Fitting Room Procedures & Guest Service Guidelines
The fitting room, located in PARC, is an important part of the Belleville Market shopping experience. It's where guests try on apparel and accessories, and it’s a key opportunity to provide elevated service. A well-managed fitting room reflects our values of hospitality, attention to detail, and care for our merchandise.
Location & Responsibility
The fitting room is located in PARC next to the PARC Desk.
It should be primarily managed by the Guest Services associate assigned to PARC.
- However, any team member may assist a guest if needed.
Access & Door Code
- The fitting room remains locked when not in use.
- Door Code: 5656 (Never give out door code numbers to customers or merchants)
Do’s
One Guest at a Time
Only one person is allowed in the fitting room at a time.
Maximum of 6 Garments
Guests may try on up to six items at a time. Politely inform them of this limit and help them manage any overflow items.
Knock Before Entering
Always knock before unlocking or opening the door—even if it appears empty.
Count the Garments
Confirm and communicate the number of items being brought in. Recount items when the guest exits.
Clear & Check the Room
Before and after each guest:
Make sure the room is clean and empty.
Remove any tags, trash, or leftover merchandise.
Reset hangers and surfaces.
Ongoing Cleanliness Checks
The PARC associate should periodically check the fitting room throughout their shift to ensure it remains clean, orderly, and not in use without supervision.
Stay Nearby
Remain close while the guest is inside. This allows for helpful service and ensures proper oversight of merchandise.
Take Back Unwanted Items
When the guest is done, collect any items they are not purchasing and reconfirm the count.
Assist with Checkout
If the guest wants to purchase anything:
Offer to walk it to the PARC Desk for checkout (credit card only, if open), or
Bring it to the Front Register for checkout.
🚫 Don’ts
- ❌ Do not allow more than one person in the room at a time.
- ❌ Do not allow more than six items per fitting session.
- ❌ Do not leave the fitting room unattended while in use.
- ❌ Do not leave items, tags, or hangers inside between guests.
- ❌ Do not allow guests to carry unpurchased apparel around the store—offer to take it to checkout or return it for them.
Customer Service Tips
A warm tone makes a difference: “Let me know if you need a different size or anything else!”
- Always maintain a visual on the fitting room door when in use.
- If PARC is closed, say: “I’ll bring this to the register up front—you can pay for it when you’re ready to check out.”
